The Factors Behind Those Karastan Carpet Prices

January 18, 2010

Before you hire somebody to put down new carpets in your home, one of the first things you will do with them is to go over prices.  Depending on the brand of carpeting you have chosen, the price quote you are given will vary tremendously.  For example, Karastan carpet prices are much higher than Mohawk carpeting.  Which is sometimes funny because Mohawk is actually the main manufacturer of Karastan carpet.  When you buy a Karastan product you are paying not just for the quality, but for the name as well.  That being said, it is safe to assume that the quality is a bit higher than Mohawk as a general rule.  This will not apply to every carpet that they make, but when quality companies move production out of house, they usually still make sure that their products are produced on higher standards than that of the producer’s products, otherwise no one would continue to buy from them.

Another factor in the price you are given will have to do with the brand, model, and thickness of the pad that is laid down beneath the carpet.  This is something that is very easy to forget about when you are considering how much carpeting your home or a room will cost, because it is not something you see or think about very often.  But you will also be paying per square foot with the pad, so don’t forget to budget that in.

A third factor will be location.  Prices for carpeting installation are very different in different parts of the country, so don’t assume that you will get the same prices in Arizona that you did in New York City.  You will need to do some asking around in your area to determine if the quote that you have been given is a reasonable one or not.
