In the sport of airsoft, it is usually a good thing to be carrying more than one airsoft gun on you. This is because in a heated battle, it is a lot quicker to just pull out another piece, rather than reload the one you are currently using. Anybody who has experience playing video games knows the truth of this. When you are in the midst of battle, you are dead if you try to reload. Instead, you can make a seamless transition to another weapon and keep firing as if you had never switched at all. Although you can’t move as fast as you can in video games, this does illustrate the point that it is better to utilize two airsoft guns than just one. Specifically, it is best to use an airsoft rifle as a primary weapon, and then have a pistol as your sidearm.
There are many instances in which having a backup airsoft gun is truly useful. When you are surrounded by enemies, you will never have time to reload. Even if you take out a few of them, and have a high capacity magazine in your airsoft rifle, there is a good chance you will run out before you have escaped the situation. Although these situations are not frequent, when they do occur, it is very relieving to know that you have an airsoft pistol at your side to help get you out of a jam.
It is not only extreme situations like this where having a backup is useful. If you want to take someone out without making a lot of noise, a pistol is a lot more effective than a rifle, which is often much louder. Once you have achieved your silent elimination objective, you can switch back to your primary unit. Or, if your airsoft rifle malfunctions for some reason, it is good to know that you have something which will keep you in the game.
Your backup airsoft pistol should not be a weak spring one. Since you may need to use it for some important operations, you should have a strong electric or gas pistol. Preferably you should have a gas one, as those can be more powerful than airsoft rifles themselves, but since they are more expensive and high maintenance, it is perfectly acceptable to use an electric one instead. Those are still quite effective, and can get the job done.
