There are many different choices of wedding bands for men available, both online and in stores. Traditional wedding rings are simple: yellow gold with no adornments. However, there are multiple variations on this traditional look, ranging from engravings, cutouts, gems, different colored metals and even metals other than gold.
More and more, most men’s wedding bands are being made from a durable metal like stainless steel, titanium, or tungsten. Thus, the color is usually silver but can range from very light to nearly black. Some bands, especially those made from stainless steel, can have colors such as brown, bronze, or opalescent as well. A design can then be overlaid, cut into the band, or formed by inlaid gems (usually diamonds) for a more unique look.
Weddings bands for men are typically more simplistic than women’s. They are generally a wide, smooth band, possibly with a thin stripe of color or texture around either the middle or the edges of the band. The designs and cutouts are also simple – a cross or celtic knot, for example. If diamonds are present, they are generally small and few in number, although there are some brands that have large diamonds or enlarge the top of the band to make the diamonds stand out.
An alternative to the simple look is a two-toned band. The gold jewellery expert mentions that this is a gold-and-silver mix, with the silver color either made of white gold or platinum. These rings, because of their more flashy design, allow for more detail from the band itself: a gentle twist of the metals to interweave them, a curve where diamonds may be inset, or a stripe of color where a pattern may be applied. Couples shopping for the man’s ring should keep these details in mind. If the couple wants to have matching wedding bands, they should look first at the gold (yellow or white) and the “silver” metals like stainless steel and titanium. Darker metals like tungsten are elegant, but difficult to match. Whatever the criteria, there is certain to be men’s wedding rings available to suit any couple’s needs.
